In 2021, the Race Discrimination Commissioner convened an Expert Advisory Group to inform the refresh of the Racism. It Stops With Me campaign. The group consists of 10 members, representing diverse organisations, communities, ages, professions, and areas of expertise. In convening the group, the Commissioner and the campaign team recognise the importance of centring the expertise of First Nations people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities in anti-racism work.
In 2021 and 2022, the Group met to discuss and provide input on:
- the campaign’s strategy and objectives
- the campaign’s consultation strategy, resulting in over 40 consultations with communities and organisations working to address racism, in addition to targeted consultations with the campaign’s target audience
- the campaign’s creative concept
- the campaign’s rollout, Ambassador program and stakeholder engagement strategy
The Racism. It Stops With Me campaign would not be possible without the guidance and input of this Expert Advisory Group.
